Wooing Tree Pinot Noir 2009 wins Gold at the San Francisco International Wine Competition

Wooing Tree Central Otago Pinot Noir 2009 wins gold at the San Francisco International Wine Competition 2011.

The San Francisco International Wine Competition is the largest, most influential international wine competition in America, judged by a prestigious panel of nationally recognized wine experts. Judging is based on a blind, consensual procedure. 2011 is the 31st anniversary of the competition, the event took place on June 17th, 18th and 19th at the Hotel Nikko located in downtown San Francisco.

Co-owner Stephen Farquharson said, “This is another great accolade for us at Wooing Tree. The result is a real pat on the back for the whole team from the vineyard through to the winery and the sales team in NZ and overseas, everyone puts in a lot of hard work. 2009 is already shaping up to be one of our best vintages. We are looking at entering the US market, so this result should help generate much wider interest”.

The Wooing Tree Pinot Noir is no stranger to success and has had a remarkable first few years, 6 trophies, numerous gold medals, 5 star ratings, and praise from wine writers worldwide. This is also the 3rd year in a row Wooing Tree Pinot Noir has picked up gold at San Francisco.

Wooing Tree is situated in the heart of Central Otago, New Zealand, next to the town of Cromwell and opposite the big fruit sculpture. The family owned single vineyard site specialises in Pinot Noir and also produces a Rosé, a still Blanc de Noir called “Blondie” and now a sweet wine called "Tickled Pink" from the same grape variety.
