Praise for Destiny Bay Vineyards at Prestigious First Annual Superyacht Forum

Waiheke Island, New Zealand (PRWEB) September 29, 2011

Destiny Bay Wine, today, reported the high praise its wines received from the 120 plus attendees at the Auckland Superyacht Captain's Forum held September 15-16 at the Viaduct Events Centre in Auckland, New Zealand. Fine wine and super yachts would seem a natural combination and that was most evident by the captains' enthusiasm for the wine. Destiny Bay, along with the five other Specialist Winegrowers of New Zealand - Fairbourne, No. 1 Family Estate, The Hay Paddock, Vinoptima and Wooing Tree - were honored to be selected as the official wines for this first conference for superyacht captains sponsored by New Zealand Marine Export Group. The event was timed to correspond with the festivities surrounding the Rugby World Cup 2011.

"These discerning people are responsibile for managing and stocking wines for some of the most prestigious superyachts in the world. It was a both pleasure and an honor to share our acclaimed wines with them," stated Mike Spratt, co-founder of Destiny Bay Vineyards. During Spratt's hour-long presentation to the group about distinctive New Zealand wines, they sampled all three of the Destiny Bay's highly rated 2006 cabernet blends.

New Zealand Prime Minister, John Key, attended the invitation-only, opening reception at which wines of The Specialist Winegrowers of New Zealand - Destiny Bay, Fairnourne, No 1 Family Estate, The Hay Paddock, Vinoptima and Wooing Tree - were served. These wines were also selected for the private banquet held at the The Cloud, the main promotional venue for Rugby World Cup 2011.

"We were delighted to have Destiny Bay and The Specialist Winegrowers of New Zealand as the official wines for this distinguished event", stated Michelle Khan, the event's organizer. "Mike Spratt's presentation on Thursday afternoon about New Zealand's fine artisan wines was a highlight and very well received by the attendees."

"Typically, events like this are sponsored by large global brands" stated Khan, "so It was a real treat to be able to share wines from six of New Zealand's most acclaimed small artisan producers."

Destiny Bay recently earned high praise from US wine critic Anthony Dias Blue for the 2007 Magna Praemia (98/100) and from French/UK, Master of Wine and Master Sommelier world title holder, Gerrard Bassett, for both the 2007 and yet to be released 2008 Destiny Bay Wines.
